Community & Student Life

Community as curriculum.

At 155 students, our caring community is part of your child’s development, not separate from it.

“The sense of community is second to none. Children feel safe and nurtured which allows them to focus on learning and truly want to go to school every day.”— Del Mar Pines Parent

Beyond the Calendar

Much of what makes Del Mar Pines feel like a community happens between the big events, integrated into the daily rhythm of school life.

Monthly Student Recognition

Flag Salutes highlight individual student growth and achievement, often with student performances and personal stories teachers share about their own students. Parents are always invited.

Monthly Spirit, Ice Cream & Free Dress Days

Just because! We love sprinkling extra joy, school pride, and fun into the regular routine.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Held three times a year to keep home and school in close collaboration. Reflecting our commitment to knowing every family, Marci personally attends every single conference.

Mentorship & the Buddy System

Older kids who lead by example.

Our DMP Buddies program pairs 5th- and 6th-graders with their 1st-grade and kindergarten buddies, giving older kids real leadership experience as they mentor, support, and help younger students find their footing.

The opportunities for the older kids to step up and lead by becoming buddies is phenomenal. There are so many things to love about DMP!— Del Mar Pines Parent

Parent community

Parents aren’t spectators.
They’re part of the culture.

From family dance parties to movie nights, parents are woven into the life of the school. End-of-year surveys are read, discussed, and acted on, because every parent and child should know they have a voice here.

Many parents care about all the kids, not just their own, and that is very heart warming.— Del Mar Pines Parent
