All classes meet Monday-Thursday with both morning and afternoon classes.
Del Mar Pines School Summer Day Camp is open to all children in our community including elementary grade students who do not attend Del Mar Pines School. For over thirty years, Del Mar Pines summer programs have facilitated student learning through the exploration of both academic and enrichment classes, all geared toward making learning fun!
Classes focus on personal and academic enrichment for students entering grades K – 6th. Parents can design a stimulating, creative summer that accommodates their schedules and their child’s unique needs. We offer morning and afternoon programs Monday through Thursday. Science, drama, math, art, writing, technology –– there’s something for everyone! Space is limited.
General Summer Day Camp Information
Summer Discoveries day camp classes are open to all grade (K-6) children in the area. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Applications are processed in the order they are received.
Because classes fill up very fast, some classes may show as available on this website while our online booking tool accurately has the class marked as FULL and will not permit additional registration. We are trying to keep up with the fast pace of registrations and apologize for any inconvenience.
If you cannot enroll into a class because it is labelled SOLD OUT, you can call the school at (858) 481-5615 and have your student placed on the waitlist.
Tuition includes all materials for summer day camp classes. Full tuition payment is due at the time of enrollment. Registration and payment are only accepted online. Payments are made at the time of registration through our registration service.
We offer summer day camp classes for students entering Kindergarten through 6th grade in the fall of 2025. All levels stated in the class descriptions refer to the grade your student will be entering in September 2025.
Summer Day Camp students do not need to wear uniforms but come to learn in comfortable, school appropriate, play clothes or “Free Dress” as we call it. We prefer your child wear closed toe shoes for their safety.
Students staying for afternoon classes are required to bring their own packed lunch and water bottle each day.
All students should bring a water bottle each day.
For morning snacks, parents have two options: a Snack Pass can be purchased in advance for $15, providing 12 snacks (one per day) for the full session, or students can bring their own snacks from home.
For students staying past lunch for afternoon classes and possibly Aftercare, an additional afternoon snack can be brought from home or you have an option to purchase in advance an additional, session-long Snack Pass for an afternoon snack.
We are unable to provide make-up classes due to student illness or vacation schedules.
If a student withdraws from our summer day camp prior to May 15, fifty percent (50%) of the tuition will be refunded. After this date, no refunds will be authorized.
All summer day camp classes are offered subject to adequate enrollment. If the minimum class size is not met, a 100% refund will be authorized. The summer day camp program coordinator will consider the cancellation of under-enrolled classes by June 12.
Summer Day Camp FAQs
Some classes offered in both Session I and Session II do cover the same academic skills, but we utilize different plays, books, novels, and essay topics in each session. These classes include: Del Mar Pines Players, Broadway Bound, Math, Jumpstart Readers, Reading/Writing Workshop, and Response to Literature through Reading and Writing.
Students attending our morning sessions arrive between 8:45 and 9:00 am
Students attending afternoon classes only arrive five minutes prior to their class start time.
Students attending classes that end at 12:00 noon must be picked up at 12:00 noon. Students attending classes that end at 1:30 & 2:30 must be picked up at those times and not more than 5 minutes after the end of class.
Students enrolled in both morning and afternoon classes stay on campus from 12:00 – 12:30 p.m. for lunch and supervised play.
After 5 minutes late from pick up, there will be a $1 per minute late fee charged.
The Full-day Camper Aftercare Program is an extension of our full-day camp experience. It adds 2.5 hours of after camp supervised student care. It includes a total of 30 hours per session of supervised active play time on the field, the playground and black top and one organized adult lead activity on the field such as Kickball, tag, dodgeball, or softball. Our camp aftercare experience also includes a craft table with markers, crayons and scissors. Late in the day from 4:00 – 5:00 a G-rated show from Disney plus will be shown from students wishing quiet time.
The Full-day Camper Aftercare Program is only available to campers that sign up for full-day sessions. It includes a total of 12 days (2.5 hours per day for a total of 30 hours per session). The total cost per session is $550 ($18.33 per hour). This program is available to a maximum of 45 full-time Summer Day Camp students. We do offer drop-in Aftercare for one-off situations. Please note, there are no refunds for early pick up or missed camp days for the Full-day Camper Aftercare Program.
Drop-In Aftercare is an “as needed”, fee based, service available from camp dismissal until 5:00 pm. It is for one-off situations where you may be either late for pick up or have an afternoon appointment or conflict that makes Aftercare a better option for you until you are able to pick your child up.
If you know you will be late and need Drop-in aftercare please inform your student in avance, so they go directly to Aftercare rather than the pick up line (your student will be less stressed and have more fun). If you are unexpectedly delayed, if possible, please call the DMP office so they can notify your student teacher and your child can be dismissed directly to Aftercare. Drop in Aftercare is $25 per hour and billed in 15 minute increments.
