Del Mar Pines School Summer Day Camp is open to all children in our community including elementary grade students who do not attend Del Mar Pines School. Our academic classes have a low student to teacher ratio of approximately 12:1.

Kindergarten Celebrates Nowruz 🌸

Our Kindergarten class joyfully celebrated Nowruz, the Persian New Year, with curiosity, creativity, and cultural appreciation.

What is Nowruz?
Nowruz means “new day” and marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the new year in Persian culture. Celebrated for more than 3,000 years, Nowruz is a time of renewal, growth, and new beginnings.

Today, our students learned about this beautiful tradition, welcomed the spirit of spring, and celebrated the joy of fresh starts and bright beginnings 🌷

🍀 Feeling Lucky at DMP! 🍀

Today, our Del Mar Pines School community was glowing in every shade of green as students and staff celebrated St. Patrick’s Day together! From bright emerald sweaters to sparkly shamrocks and festive hats, the campus was full of smiles, laughter, and a little extra Irish spirit.

There is something magical about days like this, when the whole school joins in the fun and the campus feels a little brighter. We truly are so lucky to learn, grow, and celebrate together at DMP.

Math Monday Project Feature! ➗🎲

One of our 5th-grade math groups recently stepped into the role of game designers, creating math games to help teachers assess learning in a fun and interactive way.

Working in small groups, students designed games for 3 to 4 players that featured topics such as Numbers and Operations, Ratios and Proportions, Expressions, Equations, and Logical Puzzles. Creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving were on full display.

DMP Sixth Grade Social Studies is Superb!

Our students recently completed their Social Studies unit on Ancient Egypt, creating incredible books that were colorful, creative, and filled with fascinating information. From pharaohs and mummies to the Nile River and Egyptian geography, their projects showed just how much they learned.

Now the class has moved on to Ancient China, and today students began presenting different parts of this rich civilization. Each group will continue building on the conversation, adding discoveries and insights as they explore the history, culture, and innovations of Ancient China.

Today, we welcomed back a DMP alumna for a special Parent Education assembly where she shared a powerful message about youth sports and the impact of the words we use on the sidelines.

Through years of competing in high-pressure tournaments, she witnessed the intensity young athletes face not only on the court but also from the sidelines. Experiences with negative parental pressure, along with navigating her own injuries and expectations, inspired her TEDx talk and the creation of the Positive Parental Power movement.

Her message is a powerful reminder that confidence, resilience, and a love of the game often begin with the voices cheering from the stands.

Today, our 6th graders hosted a delicious Bake Sale Fundraiser supporting Water for South Sudan!

Students, staff, and parents came together throughout the day to buy sweet treats and support this meaningful cause.

Last week, we welcomed some incredible groups to campus to demo their classes for our DMP after-school enrichment program!

From Kpop Demon dance to Hip Hop dance to EPee fencing and many more, our students had a special treat during P.E. classes and experienced something new and exciting.

Neon Day Spirit Day was absolutely electrifying! 💚💖

Glowing pinks, neon greens, and wild bright colors lit up the entire campus. Our students arrived shining and full of spirit, making the day a vibrant celebration of fun and school pride.

February is Black History Month! ✨

Our fourth graders have been reading mini biographies and nonfiction passages that explore the lives, struggles, achievements, and lasting contributions of influential African Americans in our nation’s history.

After reading, students engaged in powerful classroom conversations, asked thoughtful questions, and reflected on what they learned. They then rewrote their understanding in their own words by composing structured paragraphs using a powerful writing strategy that helps them organize their thinking:

📝 Cite evidence from the text
📝 Explain the evidence
📝 Summarize

This process challenged students to think critically, support their ideas with evidence, and clearly express their learning in writing.

Through this work, students wrote thoughtful, evidence-based responses as they discovered how these courageous leaders changed the course of history and strengthened our nation through their vision, resilience, and determination.

Our students showed up dressed in Valentine’s colors, filling the campus with heart, joy, and school spirit. From bright reds to soft pinks and crisp whites, the entire campus was wrapped in love.

We are celebrating Valentine’s Day a little early, but DMP is always filled with kindness, friendship, and connection all year long. Today was just a little extra reminder.

🧮 Math Monday Project Spotlight

The 6th graders in Mr. Fortin’s math group put their measurement skills to work by designing and building three-dimensional robots.

Students planned their designs using precise measurements, labeled each part, and constructed robots that could stand on their own. This challenge required accuracy, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving at every step.

Each robot was designed for a specific business niche, such as education, entertainment, or healthcare.

Young Artists Day 2026 filled our campus with color, movement, and imagination.

Students moved between watercolor, ceramics, and fashion design, explored hands-on art classes, and danced their hearts out in KPop Demon Hunters and Flamenco sessions alongside many other creative experiences.

A day rooted in expression, curiosity, and joy where young artists were free to create, move, and shine.

Today’s No Place for Hate activity was all about unity, kindness, and respect ❤️🤍

Each student received one-half of a red heart and one-half of a white heart. When joined together, they formed a whole heart, symbolizing how differences come together to create something stronger.

On each side, students illustrated symbols of kindness, friendship, and respect, showing what it looks like to care for one another and build an inclusive community.

From the moment we toured the school, we immediately saw the difference and knew this was the place for our child. There are only 150 students K-6. The school itself is small, clean and has a warm and loving environment. Class size is small. The curriculum is above average and challenging. In Kinder, each of the students has their own iPad to be used during technology time.

Our two kids go to DMP (currently in 2nd and 6th grade) and we couldn’t be happier. The academic, musical, science, art programs are great! The teachers are super nice, really work hard with the kids to make learning a super fun experience. The children are also ingrained with key values which are weaved into the curriculum and highlighted at various opportunities. Mrs. McCord is a great director and is really involved in every aspect of the children and the school. This school is a great stepping stone for middle school and beyond.
