Del Mar Pines School Summer Day Camp is open to all children in our community including elementary grade students who do not attend Del Mar Pines School. Our academic classes have a low student to teacher ratio of approximately 12:1.

🏆⚡ The annual Teachers vs. Students Dodgeball Battle returned this morning, and the competition was fierce! Flying dodgeballs, dramatic dodges, and questionable referee calls kept everyone on their toes. In the end, bragging rights were on the line, but the real winners were school spirit and laughter. 🏐😂

Lots of end-of-the-year excitement in 6th grade! Students stepped back in time as they wrapped up their Ancient Greece unit, dressing in togas and participating in Ancient Greek-inspired activities, including foot races and other Olympic-style games.

The fun continued in math, where students worked in teams to design and build their own miniature golf obstacle courses. Their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills were on full display as the entire school had the opportunity to test each course and try to score a hole-in-one during recess this week! ⛳🏛️

What a wonderful way to celebrate a year of learning through hands-on activities, creativity, and fun!

DMP’s Student-Led Open House is always one of our favorite events of the year! It is wonderful to see students proudly guiding their families through the classroom and sharing the projects, lessons, and accomplishments they have worked so hard on throughout the year.

📚 Librarian for a Day at DMP! ✨

One of our special Teacher Time experiences gives a student the opportunity to become “Librarian for a Day!” From checking in books and organizing the library to reading stories aloud during class, the student gets a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to keep a library running smoothly each day.

It is such a fun and meaningful experience that encourages leadership, responsibility, organization, and a love of reading. 📖💫

This month, our brilliant 6th-grade mathematicians took on the Casino Probability Project! Each student created a custom casino-style game that not only looked exciting, but also highlighted the real math behind the scenes, including expected value, probability, and the clever ways the “house” always has the edge.

From spinning wheels to card flips, students brought the thrill of chance to life while showcasing their creativity, critical thinking, and statistical analysis skills. What an engaging and innovative way to bring math to life at DMP! 🧠💰✨

Each year for Teacher Time, one lucky student or two earn the exciting opportunity to become “Director for a Day” alongside our amazing DMP School Director, Mrs. McCord!

From helping serve lunch and assisting with playground duties to learning about the many important roles involved in leading a school community, a student gets a special behind-the-scenes experience working side by side with Mrs. McCord throughout the day.

For the past month, our fourth graders have been immersed in the history of the California Gold Rush, exploring the people, culture, challenges, and opportunities that shaped this important time in California history. Today marked the exciting culmination and wrap-up of the unit!

From making strawberry jam and mining for gold to playing poker games and posing for outlaw photos, students stepped back in time through hands-on activities that brought history to life in meaningful and memorable ways. Mr. Kelly created engaging, creative, and academically rich learning experiences for our students throughout the unit. 🌄✨

Something exciting is always happening in Mr. Fortin’s 5th Grade Math Group, where creativity, innovation, and strong math instruction come together in the most engaging ways.

Under Mr. Fortin’s guidance, students became city planners as they designed their own mini-cities, applying real-world math concepts such as scale, surface area, and volume. His ability to make math hands-on, meaningful, and fun truly shines through projects like this.

Their creative 3D models featured roads, irregular shapes, and unique themes designed to attract visitors and investors. Students even created professional brochures and custom websites to promote their cities, showing just how dynamic and engaging math can be.

Mr. Fortin continues to inspire students to think critically, problem solve, and see math as both practical and exciting. 🏙️💻📏📊
