Welcome from the DMP Foundation for Education
Welcome, new and returning families! It was nice seeing so many students and parents on campus this morning at Meet and Greet.
My name is Joelle Penaranda, and I have been a parent for eight years at Del Mar Pines. My oldest daughter is a DMP alumnus, class of 2023. I have a current 5th-grade daughter and a 2nd-grade son. Del Mar Pines has been a nurturing, safe, and loving school; we are so grateful for our second home. I am excited for my third year as the President of the Foundation and honored to serve on this organization along with ten other amazing parent volunteers.
In 2009, a visionary group of Del Mar Pines parent volunteers and school leaders created the Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports aspects of the educational experience that our tuition dollars do not cover. Fast-forward fifteen years, and the Foundation continues with its mission to enhance the education of its students through a variety of unique and innovative projects.
Some recent projects made possible through the support given to the Foundation include:
- Annual Technology Refresh: new iPads and laptops (Aug 2024)
- New Turf Field (August 2024)
- Custom Sheds (August 2024)
- 3 portable bleachers for the Theater (Fall 2024)
- Classroom furniture refresh (2023)
- Comprehensive New Security System with 17 cameras throughout campus, Virtual Guard Monitoring, and an AI weapon detection system with integration into local police (2023)
- Music enhancements, including lighting, microphones, platforms, guitars, cables, and more
- Continuing education programs for teachers
- Art room remodel
- Playground shade
- AND MUCH MORE!
The DMP Foundation for Education runs two campaigns. The first is the Fall Campaign which is about to kick off shortly after the first day of school. This is a school-wide fundraising effort during which the Foundation humbly reaches out to every family for contributions to support our efforts. All the improvements and resources funded by your donations enhance your child’s education and experience. The suggested donation this year is $500 for each of your children. However, a contribution in any amount is appreciated. Our goal for 2024 is to reach 100% participation.
Our second campaign is the Spring Gala when the Foundation hosts a community celebration event. We come together to raise funds in various creative ways, including a silent auction and live auction showcasing artwork made by each classroom. The Gala Chairs have already locked in our event date. Please mark your calendar for March 8, 2025!
