This year, for the Wyland National Art Challenge, Del Mar Pines Students in kindergarten through fourth-grade collaboratively created The Otters’ Story mural, while all our kindergarten through sixth-grade students created individual entries during their art lessons with Del Mar Pines Visual Art Instructor, Tanya Robinson.
Mrs. Robinson was pleased to announce that out of thousands of school-aged artists who entered the nationwide contest, two Del Mar Pines students won first place in the individual entry category for their grade-level. This is quite an accomplishment given the size of the contest and the skill level of the competing artists.
The first winner from Del Mar Pines School is Olivia Chen. Her chalk pastel drawing of three dolphins took first place in the second-grade category.
The second winner is Evelyn Lee. Her black pencil drawing of the hatched turtle earned first place in the fifth-grade category.
