Explore Outdoor Skills: DMP 6th Grade Camp
During the month of September, our graders excitedly go up Julian to enjoy a week of outdoor education. So much fun is had while students engage in outdoor classes based on Common Core State Standards, Next Generation Science Standards and California’s Education and the Environment Initiative. Activities in the large outdoor classroom include building survival shelters, day and night hiking, animal interactions, archery, singing camp songs, and even climbing a 42-foot climbing wall!
All activities are designed to build an understanding of ecological principles and the relationship between each student and the world around them. Character education using Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility are the core values used throughout the week as is positive peer interactions. Students also build new relationships and strengthen long-standing ones. The experiences shared at DMP 6th grade camp will always be remembered!
