Dear DMP Community,

I hope you are staying healthy and doing as well as possible under these trying circumstances. Your children’s teachers are amazing and have been working diligently in order to help your children have structure, routine, and continuity in their education. They have also been giving your children the opportunity to communicate with each other through commenting in Google Classroom as well as some live video options. Remote learning is new to all of us and we are doing our best to make this as positive an experience as possible, for you and your children. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we all learn together!

I know you are all wondering how long this remote learning will continue. Your teachers and I discussed this at our staff meeting yesterday. Based on available information and recommendations at this time, we will be continuing our remote classrooms until April 3rd. Then we will be taking the week of April 6-10 off from remote learning for our scheduled Spring Break. We encourage you to take the week for less structured family time: puzzling, fort building, board games, card games, reading, storytelling, walks or hikes outside in nature, Facetiming with family and friends, virtual field trips to museums and other destinations, or just relaxing with one another. Remote learning will resume the week of April 13th until we are able to return to school.

We all want to get back to “in person” school and we will as soon as it is deemed safe and possible by public health officials and our local/state leaders. Until that time, I will be communicating with you at least once a week with any school updates or changes.

Thank you for all your support and patience! I appreciate any feedback you have for how we can help your family and make remote learning a positive and effective option to help your children’s social, emotional and academic wellbeing.

Stay healthy and strong,

Marci McCord
